Located in the center of Merrimack, and open more hours than most public buildings, the Merrimack Public Library often receives and honors requests to partner with local non-profit groups and service agencies to further their causes. We are not always able to accommodate requests due to our very limited space. A partial list of these partner programs appears below:
- Merrimack Lions Club: Eyeglass and Hearing Aid Collection Site
In conjunction with the Merrimack Lions Club, the library serves as a year-round collection site for used eyeglasses and hearing aids. There are small collection boxes for each located in the foyer. For more info on Merrimack Lions Club, visit their website.
- Caring Covers of NH
The library serves as a year-round collection site for new handmade blankets that are redistributed to children and adults in need of a hug, support and comfort when times are tough. Blankets and blanket-making supplies (like fabric, yarn, and quilt batting) can be brought to the Circulation Desk.
- Exchange Club of Merrimack Cans for Kids
There is an aluminum can collection shed in the library's parking lot. The proceeds from the sale of the cans is used by the Exchange Club of Merrimack to support their many community service programs. The shed is one of several located throughout Merrimack. - Lioness Club of Merrimack: Project Santa
In late November/early December the library partners with the Lioness of Merrimack in Operation Santa. Gift ideas for those less fortunate are written on postcards which are put on a Christmas Tree near the main entrance. Residents choose a card, buy the gifts and return them to the library, for the Lioness members to pick up. Connect with the Lioness Club of Merrimack on FB!
