Upright Women Wanted is set in a dystopian future where the US resembles the Old West and Librarians distribute government-approved reading materials to farmsteads and settlements throughout the desert. Esther is found hiding in their wagon days after witnessing the public execution of her best friend and lover, as they were accused of deviance and being in possession of resistance propaganda. Esther desperately wants to join the Librarians, with the hope they will guide her and cure her "wrongness." She soon finds they're not necessarily the morally upright women she assumed.

Once they let each other in, the gun-slinging Librarians teach Esther that, not only is there a place in the world for someone like her to exist, but that they are everywhere. She grows confident and bold as she joins the fight against the authoritarian state. This is a fun little story of love, acceptance, and bringing hope to the oppressed.
