Merrimack Historical Society - The Amoskeag Mills of Manchester

Did you know that Manchester is the only city with a main street which dead-ends at both ends?

The Amoskeag Mills were an early success, manufacturing woolen and cotton fabrics, and later locomotive engine muskets, while creating a benevolent factory village with boarding homes, stores, schools and recreation.

John Clayton is from the Manchester Historical Association, and he will speak about the history of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company of Manchester.

Mr. Clayton was the long-time host of "New England Crossroads" on NH Public Television, and was a front-page reporter for the Union Leader for 20 years. This meeting is open to the public at no cost and refreshments will be served.  For more information contact Anita Creager at 603-424-5084.

Reservations are required, due to limited seating.

***There will be a short business meeting of the Merrimack Historical Society at 6:30 to 6:59 PM.***
