The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce’s Business Engagement Committee and the Merrimack Public Library will be partnering to offer a monthly Business Book Group. We will read books covering a variety of topics that are of interest to business people, including leadership, finance, hiring and strategic planning. This will also be a great opportunity to network with fellow business leaders. The group will meet monthly on the second Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm in the Library’s Lowell Room.
This month's selection is: The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone.
Amazon.com's visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now.
Brad Stone enjoyed unprecedented access to current and former Amazon employees and Bezos family members, and his book is the first in-depth, fly-on-the-wall account of life at Amazon. The Everything Store is the book that the business world can't stop talking about, the revealing, definitive biography of the company that placed one of the first and largest bets on the Internet and forever changed the way we shop and read. - Summary from Amazon
Please register so staff can plan accordingly. Circulating copies of the book can be picked up at the Library's Circulation Desk. Any questions can be sent to Library Director Yvette Couser at firstname.lastname@example.org
*We will also be discussing the February book, Ask A Manager: How to Navigate Clueless Colleagues, Lunch-Stealing Bosses, and the Rest of Your Life at Work by Alison Green because the meeting was cancelled due to the snowstorm.
