Business Book Group @ The Biergarten!

For the March meeting, we will be meeting OFF-SITE at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten at 7:30 pm.

The Business Book Group has been sponsored by the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce since 2018. Recently, the Merrimack Chamber merged with the Souhegan Valley Chamber to create one Chamber serving a wider region.  As such, the book group members would like to join in celebrating this historic merger.

The new Greater-Merrimack Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Merger Celebration Cocktail Reception on March 10 from 5:30-7:30 at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten, 221 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack. The Business Book Group will meet to discuss this month's selection immediately afterward at the Biergarten to give book club members an opportunity to mingle and network at the Reception with fellow business leaders.

Please join us for both events if you can.

To join us for the Merger Celebration Cocktail Reception celebrating the new Greater-Merrimack Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce, please email your RSVP to Yvette Couser at ycouser@merrimacklibrary.org

This month's selection is: Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel Pink

Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money—the carrot-and-stick approach. That’s a mistake, says Pink. He asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction--at work, at school, and at home—is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world.

Drawing on four decades of scientific research on human motivation, Pink exposes the mismatch between what science knows and what business does—and how that affects every aspect of life. He examines the three elements of true motivation—autonomy, mastery, and purpose-and offers smart and surprising techniques for putting these into action in a unique book that will change how we think and transform how we live.

Circulating copies of the book can be picked up at the Library's Circulation Desk.  Any questions can be sent to Library Director Yvette Couser at ycouser@merrimacklibrary.org
