We're looking for a college or Library Science master's student who wants to gain practical library experience by working in our fast-paced Youth Services Department this summer. You will help patrons (primarily children from birth to age 17 and their caregivers) in the use of the library, assist with special events and activities and promote library materials. Please visit our Employment page for a full job description and information about how to apply.
Pictured: Samantha Small, 2017 Summer Intern at our Storytime in the Park event. During her internship, Samantha experienced plenty of highs (assisting at and executing children's programs, assessing the Children's Biographies collection) and lows (the lower level flood) which truly enriched her real-world education. Where is she now? After Samantha completed her internship, she was hired as a part time Aide in our Youth Services Department when we had an unexpected opening. She graduated from Simmons College with her Master of Library Science Degree in December 2017 and continued to work for us until May 2018, when she accepted a full time Children's Librarian position in Massachusetts. Of her time at Merrimack, Sam said, "I learned more here than in my entire Master's program."
