Writing Mystery and Thriller Stories Workshop with Local Author Bonnar Spring

Join local author and podcast host Bonnar Spring for a two-hour creative writing workshop about crafting compelling mystery and thriller stories. Some of the topics include: differences in writing the two genres, structuring your story, and creating three-dimensional characters. Writing prompt exercises will be provided and this interactive event will include a Q&A segment at the end. Participants should leave the workshop with tools to craft compelling mystery and thriller plots for their stories as well as general tips to improve their writing.

Bonnar Spring is the author of two books described as “thoughtful thrillers set in foreign locations”: Toward the Light (2019) and Disappeared (2022). Besides being a lifelong reader, she describes herself as a “nomad at heart”, having previously hitchhiked across Europe and joined the Peace Corps after college. For many years, she taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at a community college and hosts the Crime Wave Podcast focusing on interviews with crime and suspense fiction authors.

In 2023, Bonnar was the recipient of the New England Crime Bake’s Al Blanchard Award for short fiction with her story “Good Deed for the Day” featured in “Wolfsbane: Best New England Crime Stories 2023”.
