The Friends of the Merrimack Public Library (FMPL) is a group of volunteers interested in supporting, promoting, and enhancing the services provided by our town library. We are a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Member contributions are tax deductible and entitle you to attend exclusive pre-sale book sales throughout the membership term.
FMPL provides Merrimack residents with "Books for Babies" gifts, donations to local charities on behalf of those who collectively meet Summer Reading Challenge goals, furnishes Little Free Libraries in our Town parks, runs Book Sales, and sponsors an array of educational and entertaining events.
Our assistance to the library and the Merrimack community depends largely on annual membership dues. Your contribution of $10 or more makes you a member of FMPL. Once you are a member, you'll receive email updates to keep you informed of events and volunteer opportunities. Your membership entitles you to attend the Members-Only Pre-Sale prior to our Book Sales, voting privileges at Executive Board meetings, and the opportunity to run for an Officer position on the Friends Executive Board.

Meetings
The Friends of the Library Executive Board meets at the library on the last Monday of each month from September through June and any members are welcome and encouraged to join us. Please check the Library's Event Calendar for dates for our upcoming meetings. The Friends of the Library's Annual Meeting is held prior to the June Friends-Only Pre-Sale.
Book Sales
Thank you to everyone who came to our Winter Book Sale in January. Check back for the date of our next sale.
We accept donations to be included in our sales throughout the year and these can be dropped off during the hours that the library is open. Staff can provide donors with a blank receipt but donors are responsible for valuing the items. We do not accept VHS, cassette tapes, encyclopedias, text books or periodicals. Friends members who are interested in volunteering during a book sale should contact Director Yvette Couser at ycouser@merrimacklibrary.org.
Events
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Library's Summer Reading Program "Oceans of Possibilities!" The Friends pledged to donate $1/reading badge earned to this year's program partners, the Seacoast Science Center. We're delighted to announce that with readers reading 6,125 hours and earning 1,254 badges, we surpassed our goal of 600 badges and donated our maximum amount pledged of $600 to the Center. You can read this wonderful thank you letter from the Seacoast Science Center
Books for Babies
Proceeds from Book Sales and Membership Dues fund our early literacy program, Books for Babies. Merrimack parents are invited to receive a gift to welcome a baby. Pick-up a gift bag in the Children's Room and enjoy the offerings to play, sing, and read with your baby!
