The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce’s Business Engagement Committee and the Merrimack Public Library will be partnering in 2018 to offer a monthly Business Book Group. We will read books covering a variety of topics that are of interest to business people, including leadership, finance, hiring and strategic planning. This will also be a great opportunity to network with fellow business leaders. The group will meet monthly on the second Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm in the Library’s Lowell Room.
November's selection is The Art of Asking: or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help by Amanda Palmer. What started as a TED talk about Palmer's foray into producing a music album totally funded through Kickstarter -- she asked for $100,000 and received $1.2 million -- grew into this book, where she explores the barriers in her own life and in the lives of those around her, and discovers the emotional, philosophical, and practical aspects of The Art of Asking. Part manifesto, part revelation, this is the story of an artist struggling with the new rules of exchange in the 21st century, both on and off the Internet.
Please register on the Library’s website so staff can plan accordingly. Circulating copies of the book can be picked up at the Library's Circulation Desk. Any questions can be sent to Library Director Yvette Couser at ycouser@merrimacklibrary.org
